What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Welding Inspector position at HMT Tank?
HMT (Weld Spec) is looking for a Certified Welding Inspector to work its contract at CP Chem in Port Arthur, TX. Start date 31 Mar 2025; Duration 7 days; Working Seven 10-hours shifts. 2025, $50/hr no per diem
Qualification:
- Must have a current CWI certification.
- Must have current TWIC Card
- Must be safety minded, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
- Must have good verbal and written communication.
- Have the ability to work in an industrial environment that at times will require them to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, enter confined spaces, and lots of walking
- Have a working knowledge of industry codes and specifications.
- Knowledge of welding processes and procedures.
- Ability to visually inspect items and determine their acceptability, and identify items that are unacceptable items, then determine a suitable repair plan.
- Witness testing as required.
- The ability to interpret isometrics and P&ID’s for piping as well as structural steel.
- At times will be required to weld map isometrics, visually inspect welded components, and determine the required NDE/NDT required
- At times will be required to build and generate work packages and must be familiar with the documentation required.
- Must be able to track the progress and status of generated packages.
- Must be able to review packages once they have been turned over as complete and assure all the required documentation is accounted for.
- Must be capable to walk the completed packages and verify that the piping/equipment/structure is properly installed and complies with isometrics and specifications, verify all testing and NDE/NDT requirements have been satisfied.
- Must be capable of generating a detailed ‘punch’ list of all items not in compliance with the work scope requirements and determine the category in which they fall (i.e.- pre, post, or start-up).
- Will be responsible to sign-off on final documentation once all the items in the package have been erected or installed and deemed complete
