Job description

We are looking for a Protection and Control Engineer II who will be responsible for designing protection and control systems for both new and existing substations.


This position reports to

Protection and Control Leader

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures technical compliance and consistency in projects, applying technical standards and constructability to deliver final outcomes in line with the company's and the client's quality procedures.
  • Review Scope of Works, Qa/Qc checklist, and job specifications through projects.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates project activities with managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Creates and modifies design documents and drawings, including one-lines, three-lines, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, metering, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and communication systems.
  • Design relay panel arrangements and specifications, as well as conduit and cable sizing/routing.
  • Generates bills of materials using specialized software like AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
  • Reviews and approves project submittals and responds to RFIs, while supporting field activities during construction.
  • Collaborates with a P&C Designer to develop the aforementioned schematics and associated wiring diagrams.
  • Coordinates efforts with other external and internal project team members, recognizing the need for coordination with different design disciplines such as transmission line engineers, distribution line engineers, telecom engineers, substation design, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing protection and control systems for substations
  • Knowledge of technical standards and constructability
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Project management skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to mentor and guide other engineers will be valuable assets in this role.
  • Native or fluent in English.
  • Candidates must have the authorization to work in the United States.
