The Manager, Network Operations leads the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our network infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership position that oversees a team of network engineers and actively engages in the technical aspects of the network, especially regarding Cisco firewalls and networking technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and actively participates in daily network operations, ensuring network performance, security, and uptime across enterprise systems.
- Oversees the planning, design, deployment, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and cloud networks.
- Configures, monitors, and manages Cisco firewalls (e.g., ASA, Firepower), including firewall policies, VPN configurations, intrusion prevention, and other security measures.
- Leads the administration and optimization of Cisco networking components, such as routers, switches (Catalyst, Nexus), ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and network segmentation (e.g., VLANs).
- Oversees network security practices, ensuring that firewall policies are up-to-date and aligned with industry standards, providing secure access control and network segmentation.
- Provides hands-on technical guidance to the network team, assisting with troubleshooting, configuration, and performance optimization of both Cisco firewalls and enterprise network components.
- Designs and implements short and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Monitors network performance, identifies bottlenecks or security vulnerabilities, and takes corrective actions to improve reliability and security.
- Provides hands-on technical guidance to the network team, assisting with troubleshooting, configuration, and performance optimization of both Cisco firewalls and enterprise network components.

- Ensures compliance with industry security best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Develops, maintains, and updates network documentation, including detailed configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
- Manages relationships with vendors for network hardware, software, and services, ensuring cost-effective procurement and timely delivery of solutions. Monitors service level agreement with vendors.
- Oversees the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans as they relate to network infrastructure.
- Stays informed on emerging network technologies, especially around Cisco enterprise networking solutions and next-gen firewall technologies and recommends upgrades or improvements as necessary.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role. Strong expertise in Cisco networking technologies, with extensive hands-on experience in Cisco firewalls (ASA, Firepower) and networking solutions (e.g., routers, switches, security appliances).
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Convey a skilled phone manner for handling internal and external customers issues.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to work independently; demonstrate initiative and analytical ability; and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
Computer Skills:
Hands-on experience with enterprise networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VLANs. Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls in large-scale enterprise environments. Knowledge of network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Cisco DNA Center. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex network issues effectively. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical teams, vendors, and leadership.
Certificates and Licenses:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required. Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and Cisco Certified Specialist in Enterprise Core, Security, or Network Design preferred.
