Summary

Job Title: Development Drafter

Department: Drafting

Reports to: Drafting Manager

Location: Detroit Lakes, MN

Wage: $20/hr to $25/hr DOE

Summary The primary role is to develop and manage a system that produces modern modular single and multi-family home or light commercial designs to a high level of factory completion and provide efficient methods of plant production procedures that support the Company goals and initiatives

 

Essential Functions

  • Uses computer assisted design (AutoCAD) or Chief Architect to develop, create, draw and modify complete and accurate designs from rough or detailed sketches or notes to achieve desired effect of new floor plans.
  • Confers with builders, investors, architects and engineers regarding approval or desired changes to design.
  • Develops and manages new and existing floor plan series along with standard structural options.
  • Analyzes and develops custom build-able floor plans from sales driven concepts.
  • Communicates issues and ideas directly with Dynamic Homes’ builders, investors, architects and engineers.
  • Assists production and quote drafting department with the development of drawings including electrical, plumbing and any necessary take offs needed to accurately build the project.
  • Assists drafting manager in developing and producing all drawings necessary for approval of multifamily and commercial projects
  • Communicate directly with architects, engineers, developers, state and county officials in the development of production plans for any light commercial and/or multi-family projects that the company may deem fit.
  • Submits all plans and specifications to the State of Minnesota and other State entities for approval of projects.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working environment.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices which facilitate efficient operation as well as employee safety and morale.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Conforms with safety rules and uses all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The performance of this position requires occasional exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of safety glasses is required, and the use of hearing protection may be required.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime may be required as job duties demand.

     

    Travel

    Travel is primarily not expected in this role, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

     

    Education associate degree (A.A.) in CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous home construction experience helpful.

    • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of design (AutoCAD or Chief Architect) software, internet software, spreadsheets and word processing.
