Job Description
Job Title: Custodian
Business Title: Blue Sky Dynamic Group
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Part-time position: 20-25/hrs a week. Day Shift 8:00am to 12:00pm or until 2:00pm if necessary
Job Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in a designated area, ensuring that facilities are sanitary, safe, and welcoming for all occupants. This role includes a variety of tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, and light maintenance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Janitor is responsible for performing all work in accordance with the approved procedure, products, techniques, and schedules so that the work will meet or exceed the standards required by the contract. The janitor is required to perform immediate corrective actions as directed by the project manager or a responsible supervisor. The janitor is trained on contract standard and expected to inspect and verify their own work after completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning Duties:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, urinals sinks, and mirrors.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal.
- Dust and clean surfaces, including desks, tables, and windowsills.
- Wash windows and glass doors.
- Clean and maintain kitchen and break areas.
- Maintenance and Upkeep:
- Perform routine inspections to identify areas needing cleaning or maintenance.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Custodial Project Manager.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and minor repairs.
- Special Projects:
- Assist with setup and cleanup for events and meetings.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal and salting walkways in winter.
- Ensure all areas comply with health and safety standards.
- General Duties:
- Follow established cleaning procedures and schedules.
- Maintain a clean and organized storage area for cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and effectively.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform strenuous tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (heat, cold, etc.).
- Must be able to push/pull, carry, bend, stoop, reach, squat, and stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to navigate up/down stairs
- Must be able to show respect to supervisor/manager and be courteous to coworkers
- Must be detailed oriented
- Must be able to follow instructions given by management (instructions given in English)
