Job Summary :
The Software Engineer is responsible for developing software solutions by analyzing information needs, studying system flows, data usage, and work processes, and collaborating with users to identify and resolve problem areas. The role involves designing and implementing system specifications, standards, and programming solutions to ensure optimized performance, scalability, and efficiency.
Local Only Requirement :
Candidates must reside in the City of Austin or surrounding cities (No relocation assistance provided).
Hybrid work model : 4 days remote, 1 day onsite (Wednesdays required).
Key Responsibilities :
Performance Analysis & Evaluation :
Analyze and evaluate application, system, and ecosystem performance and scalability across multiple tiers, with a strong focus on the data tier in both cloud and on-prem environments.
Identify performance and scalability bottlenecks and propose solutions to enhance efficiency.
Simulate user / system traffic / load using scripts or other tools to measure, evaluate, and analyze component behavior.
Optimization & System Tuning :
Optimize code, database queries, and system configurations to improve response times, scalability, and resource efficiency (CPU, memory, I / O).
Analyze and interpret Oracle wait events, AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) raw data, and traces, correlating findings to overall system behavior.
Generate and analyze AWR, ASH (Active Session History), and ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor) reports to enhance database performance.
System Behavior & Load Prediction :
Extrapolate system behavior under representative loads to predict system behavior under full load / stress conditions.
Derive insights from application and data tier metrics to optimize system performance.
Evaluate and predict future performance needs based on application usage trends, traffic patterns, and projected growth.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis (RCA) :
Conduct detailed root cause analysis (RCA) to diagnose and resolve performance issues.
Pinpoint underlying causes of slowdowns, failures, or inefficiencies and develop strategic solutions.
Communication & Documentation :
Effectively communicate complex results, analyses, and performance metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Document findings, optimizations, and recommendations for ongoing performance improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
Strong experience in application performance analysis, tuning, and troubleshooting across on-prem and cloud environments.
Proficiency in Oracle database performance tuning, including expertise in AWR, ASH, ADDM reports, and Oracle wait events analysis.
Expertise in optimizing SQL queries, database indexing strategies, and database configurations for improved performance.
Experience with performance monitoring and diagnostic tools.
Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving system bottlenecks.
Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical findings to diverse audiences.
