What are the responsibilities and job description for the PATIENT EDUCATOR RN - OB EDUCATION position at Hoag Hospital Irvine?
Salary Range : $50.09 - $77.03 / hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.The Patient Educator (RN) provides individualized nursing education to patients and families using an evidenced-based, multi-disciplinary approach.This role ensures the patient has the knowledge to care for his / her condition and is educated and empowered to participate in the plan of care.Serves as a liaison among clinical service staff, physicians, education departments, and patients.Provides health assessments, plans and reassesses as well as makes appropriate referrals for outside services / continued care.Participates in data collection and analysis of clinical outcomes.Assists with education of clinical professionals. Keeps current in best practices by attending conferences, educational programs, and continuing education classes.Functions both in inpatient and outpatient environments.May develop education programs and facilitate educational classes.Performs other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceRequired : 2 or more years of clinical nursing experience.Additional requirements for specific departments are as follows : OB Education : Childbirth Educator experience preferred.Certifications RequiredBLSAdditional requirements for specific departments are as follows : OB Education : For RNs providing Lactation Support : Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required within one year of hire.Hoag is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
