What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tower Crane Operator position at Hoar?
The Crane Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the mechanical boom and cable cranes, lattice cranes, tower cranes, or tower and cable equipment to lift and move materials, machines, or products in many directions on a construction site.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily inspection of crane.
- Coordinate lift plans with project superintendent and sub-contractors on deliveries and material placements for the day.
- Communicate lift plans, identify each designated rigger and signal person for daily lift plan and safely execute lifts according to plan.
- Coordinate additional unexpected lifts from deliveries that may not be planned in an order not to effect schedule requirements of other working trades.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- NCCCO required
- Valid DOT physical card or ASME physical certification required
- Valid Drivers' License required
- Acceptable background investigation results with a clean driving record required
- 3-5 years experience working as a commercial or industrial construction Crane Operator
- Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Environment: Work is performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site possible.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment; to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs without assistance (94lbs without assistance for self-performed concrete jobs) and greater than 50lbs with assistance; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Safety: Consistently follows and improves safety policies and practices. Looks for unsafe conditions or actions and takes appropriate measures to address unsafe conditions/actions per company policies. Leads and communicates project safety is everyone’s responsibility. Recognizes it takes everyone on a project working together safely to have a safe project. Participates in safety training and meetings.
