Job Description:

SUMMARY:

The Shipping Manager is responsible for all outbound shipments in the warehouse. The Shipping Manager leads and directs the picking and packing team, as well as the LTL and export shipping functions. The Shipping Manager is responsible to create and improve processes and ensure top performance from all areas. This role will understand each process, and drive improvement by the use of metrics and data, as well as be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our ERP system to ensure that all transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Overall, this position ensures that as parts come in, they are processed, transacted and available for shipping in the most efficient and accurate manner possible.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and assists in daily shipping actives: responsible for all dock functions, shipping and processing of parts, LTL and export shipments. Also, responsible for department 5S and all other task related to the shipping process.
  • Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of the department activities.
  • Developing and maintaining departmental work instructions for all tasks.
  • Establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by work flow.
  • Interpreting company policies to workers and enforcing safety regulations.
  • Recommending and implementing measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance.
  • Continuously improve shipping operations through the use of lean enterprise practices.
  • Conferring with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities and carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the ITW’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, addressing complaints, coaching/mentoring for performance and resolving problems.
  • These supervisory responsibilities for the warehouse must be in line with the goals and objectives set forth by the Warehouse Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Strong communication skills; verbal and written
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Education/Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in Transportation
  • Previous Shipping/Receiving or manufacturing experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations a plus

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Certification in Six Sigma and ISO 9001 is preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in electronic shipping software
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics and shipping documentation
  • Knowledge of shipping industry regulations.
  • Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Regularly required to lift 20 lbs.

  • May be exposed to temperature variations based on season
