Chemist I
HOBO Inc. (part of the HOBO Inc. family of companies) is the leader in custom chemical formulating and blending. We manufacture products for a variety of commercial industries. We have an excellent opportunity for an entry level Chemist position at our manufacturing facility in Lakeville, MN.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Analyze samples to determine chemical and physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, and reactions for quality control and product development.
- Develop, improve, and customize products, formulas, processes, and analytical methods.
- Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents to conduct tests.
- Prepare standards and specifications for processes, products, and tests.
- Document all lab activities in either laboratory notebook or QC log.
- Responsible for running all qualification tests on new raw materials from suppliers and manufacturers.
- Assists R&D and Operations by providing co-workers with technical service and chemical safety.
- Creates, maintains and updates all company Safety Data Sheets (SDS). This includes, but not limited to, creating new product SDS’s, updating current product SDS’s as regulations or formulas change. Ensures our SDS inventory with Chemtrec is updated.
- Prepares EPA reporting documents. This includes, but not limited to, FIFRA, Tier II and SARA 313 reporting.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or BA in Chemistry, Biology or related field from four-year College or University.
- Self-motivated – reliable and punctual.
- Able to perform and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Organized and able to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills – ability to think creatively.
- Computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must pass pre-employment physical & drug test
