What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Manager position at Hochberg Lower School?
The Security Manager will maintain a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors by enforcing safety and security policies, access control procedures, accident prevention efforts, support risk management efforts, fire, safety, emergency management, asset protection, parking control and traffic enforcement programs.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain communication with the Chief of Security and Operations and ensure immediate notification of any significant incident which impacts the school or school personnel.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the school Emergency Action Plans.
- Conducts training for school and security staff as needed.
- Liaison with law enforcement as needed.
- Assure proper staffing of security staff.
- Supervise and schedule the security staff.
- Conduct post inspections and knowledge checks of security staff, to ensure up to date job knowledge and active D & G licenses as required by state law.
- Ensures security staff are wearing proper uniform.
- Responsible for the planning and overseeing of both vehicular and foot traffic in and out of the school.
- Monitor building and grounds security.
- Meets regularly with appropriate school leadership to discuss security and parking issues.
- Implements rules, regulations, and policies to student and staff parking.
- Organizes and implements various safety drills.
- Performs other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
- Must arrive on time and immediately report any tardiness.
- Provide sufficient notice when unable to be present for work.

- Maintains knowledge of site-specific duties, responsibilities, policies and procedures for security staff.
- Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the status of the background checks and clearances.
- Must identify long term improvements and enhancement solutions for physical security countermeasures, access control systems, video security systems, visitor management systems, and personnel training specific to the site Recommendations. use be submitted to the Chief of Security and Operations.
Qualifications
The Security Manager should have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Minimum of five years of experience in law enforcement, military and/or security or any combination thereof. Knowledge of safety procedures for a school environment. Will adhere to all relevant local, state, and federal training requirements and be licensed as required. Further, Security Manager will maintain required active D & G licenses as required by state law.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in carrying out security duties. This position requires a high degree of diplomacy, flexibility, and adaptability to ensure the successful implementation of the safety and security program.
Salary based on experience.
