Whether it’s leading a thrilling game of archery, guiding a group through a STEAM challenge, or watching a camper master a new skill, you’ll play a key role in making every day at camp extraordinary.
What You’ll Do
- Lead exciting camp activities like sports, arts and crafts, swimming, archery, STEAM projects, and field trips.
- Create a fun, energetic, and positive atmosphere while embodying YMCA’s core values.
- Supervise campers with a keen eye, ensuring safety and a positive experience all day long.
- Build strong relationships with campers, inspiring them to try new things, gain independence, and develop social skills.
- Serve as a mentor, helping campers grow by modeling respect, kindness, and teamwork.
- Work closely with a dedicated team of camp leaders to create an unforgettable camp experience.
- 12 weeks of summer fun – From June through August, you'll be engaged in a fulfilling, 40-hour work week.
- A culture of fun – Lead camp games, songs, and creative theme weeks that get everyone excited!

Requirements
- Be at least 16 years old (let the adventure begin!).
- Have current CPR & First Aid certifications (don’t worry, we’ll provide them during onboarding!).
- A genuine desire to learn and make a positive impact on the life of a camper.
- A consistently positive, upbeat, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude with a strong work ethic (bring your A-game every day!).
- A commitment to working as part of an awesome staff team that aligns with the mission, goals, and philosophy of the Hockomock Area YMCA and follows all summer camp policies and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills, dependability, maturity, creativity, patience, and a can-do attitude (you’re a natural-born leader!).
- The ability to work independently or in a team, always in a cooperative, positive way.
- A willingness to take on new responsibilities and contribute to a quality, fun-filled program.
- The ability to pass a background check and provide proof of immunizations and physician clearance (safety first!).
