- 3 hours of free Child Watch services during operational hours

As a Child Watch Monitor, you’ll create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where children can thrive while their parents or guardians use the YMCA facility. Warm and supportive, you’ll provide peace of mind to parents, ensuring their children are well cared for in a secure setting. Your role is key to delivering a quality experience that reflects the YMCA’s core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Essential Functions
- Create a friendly, inviting, and supportive environment for children in the Child Watch program.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment at all times.
- Assist in the separation process as children are dropped off by their parents or guardians.
- Proactively redirect children and intervene as needed to prevent accidents or incidents.
- Help children adjust to the Child Watch room and settle in comfortably.
- Lead developmentally appropriate group activities such as reading, arts and crafts, and block play.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for assigned shifts.
- Handle administrative tasks, including sign-in and sign-out processes.
- Follow all policies and procedures specific to the Child Watch room.
- Provide coverage for scheduled shifts by coordinating with other staff when unavailable and notifying the supervisor in advance.
- Attend staff meetings and required trainings as scheduled.
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first 30 days of employment
- Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques
- Prior experience working with children preferred
- Ability to respond effectively to critical situations
- Strong verbal communication skills to interact with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to work with and engage a diverse group of children and parents
