Are you committed to providing great customer service, interested in continuous improvement and have knowledge/skills as an independent buyer of fasteners in industrial space with experience in international buying? At Hodell-Natco (HNI), we specialize in supply chain management and are looking for you to join our team as a Buyer.
A high volume, fast paced environment where you will work independently and be a leader within the purchasing team, in cooperation with the sales and sourcing teams, and be committed to an elevated level of attention to detail, while analyzing, handling negotiation, execution and monitoring of product purchases for our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage purchase orders and supplier interactions to achieve optimal cost, quality, delivery, and service levels. Continuously develop and maintain strong relationships with internal (Sales, Quality, Accounting) and external customers (Supply Partners) to create new opportunities and add value to HNI:
Effective Inventory Management:
- Source/procure products from strategic Supply Partners
- Manage replenishment of assigned commodities
- Ensure product requirements clearly defined & fully supported at all levels of product flow
- Effective attainment of target inventory turns and reduction of Excess and Obsolete inventory
Employ consultative strategies to assist internal customers and add value:
- Have a strong understanding of HNI’s strategic plan & value-added philosophy
- Seek clear understanding of internal customer needs and communicate opportunities for improvement
- Provide advice and guidance to internal customers when considering their needs
- Provide solutions to help solve internal customer problems
- Assist with large bid opportunities
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Solid time management and organizational skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Outstanding listening and people skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
- Advanced experience with ERP/MRP software

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field - or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing or sales experience
- Ability to consistently apply advanced Excel skills to manipulate and analyze spreadsheets
- International experience is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on computer
- Manual dexterity with the ability to learn to read specification documents
- Office setting with exposure to a warehouse environment
Work Location: Any HNI regional office (Reno, Houston, St. Louis, Columbia) or HQ in Cleveland, OH
