Summary Description:
We are seeking a Lead Technology Engineer to assist project teams in creating a multitude of technology construction documents for healthcare, higher education, and commercial building type projects. The Lead Technology Engineer will be responsible for the design of the structural cabling systems typical in commercial construction, taking into consideration the project budget, client objectives, and coordination with all related disciplines. Other responsibilities include keeping up with trends in engineering, attending professional development events and staying in-touch with local industry professionals. Ideal candidates will have an attention to detail, a strong technical background, desire for organization, and effective communication skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Technical design and quality control on assigned projects, including all system calculations and layouts.
- Structured Cabling Systems shall include but not limited to; data, audio/visual, and security. Nurse call systems preferred but not required.
- Work closely with clients, vendors, and all other disciplines to ensure technology designs are fully coordinated.
- Maintain best practice engineering methods.
- Oversee and assist with production of design documents from concept through detailed design for new buildings, renovations, and additions to existing facilities.
- Develop project specifications.
- Document all design and coordination decisions.
- Explore and implement ways to improve cost-efficiency both internally and externally.
- Attend project coordination meetings with client and/or owner.
- Construction administration, site visits and shop drawing review per project.
- Mentor technology and electrical designers.
- Interacting and maintaining positive relationships with clients.
- Assist director with quality assurance review on projects.
Education/Experience: Possess a four-year degree (B.S. in engineering is preferred) or equivalent combination of technical degree and related work experience designing technology systems for buildings. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the AEC field with in-depth design knowledge of building technology systems. Related experience in the design of healthcare, higher education, or commercial building technology systems. Industry certification (ASIS CPP, BICSI RCDD, AVIXA (InfoComm) CTS/-D, Cisco CCNA, etc.) is a plus although not required.
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred, but not required. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use insured personal vehicle in the course of employment.
Qualifications/Skills: Candidate must be proficient Microsoft Office, AutoCAD & Revit. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without the need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be detail oriented and able to perform each essential duty effectively.
