Job Summary
Hoerr Construction, Inc. is looking for a motivated, self-starting project manager to join our construction team based out of our Goodfield, IL office. This role will have direct involvement in the following functions: budgeting, organization, scheduling, and oversight of construction projects. This position will interact regularly with other senior leaders as well as field foremen and superintendents.
Key Job Duties:
- Identify and document the scope of work for new projects.
- Oversee pre-job submittals, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Review estimates and negotiate contract terms with customers, vendors, and/or sub-contractors.
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion. Create project schedules, timelines, and project budgets.
- Identify, qualify, and oversee subcontractors.
- Coordinate, schedule, and direct the work of all construction workers and subcontractors.
- Attend planning meetings and project status meetings.
- Inspect work completed by subcontractors and construction workers for completeness, quality, and cost control.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the company’s safety guidelines.
- Review the work progress daily and communicate job status information with other parties as needed.
- Prepare internal and external job reports as required.
- Manage project costs to meet estimates.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
- Proven work experience in construction management.
- Solid understanding of all facets of the construction process.
- Able to manage all aspects of a project with minimal management supervision.
- Quality conscious and thorough. Detail-oriented. Solid organization skills.
- Competent in conflict and crisis management.
- Willing and able to take control of challenging projects.
- Action oriented and passionate about work.
- Willingness to get hands dirty and do what it takes to get the work completed.
- Technical proficiency with software products as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Project. Knowledge of other construction software a plus. Comfortable learning and using new technologies.
- Willing to travel regionally to jobsites. Some overnight travel will be required depending on job location.
