Hoerr Construction, Inc. was founded in 1994 and focuses on the underground construction field. As a union contractor, the key services we offer include directional drilling, sewer inspection and cleaning, CIPP pipe lining, and water and sanitary sewer construction.
Key Job Duties for this position include:
- Read, analyze, and interpret the information shown on utility maps to understand the presence and location of underground utilities.
- Use locating equipment to locate, detect underground utilities.
- Use locating equipment to direct and assist the directional bore operator to safely and successfully complete directional boring projects.
- Perform other general labor tasks related to the directional boring process and other underground construction.
- Confined space entry in manholes and vaults.
- Assist with setup and break down of equipment as needed.
- Use of hand tools, shovels, ladders, and other similar items.
- Hand digging using a shovel.
- Assist with traffic control.
- Safely operate company vehicles.
- Perform other general duties as assigned.
- Report job information using tablets, laptops, phones or other methods.
Job Requirements:
- Valid Class A CDL is required. Air brakes and tanker endorsements preferred.
- Prior experience working as a locator on a directional bore crew.
- Willing to travel to jobsites throughout Illinois.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office applications. Comfortable using technology. Willing and able to learn new software programs.
- Willing to show a commitment to company safety practices.
- If not already a union laborer, willing to become a union member and get a union card (we can assist with this process).
- Attention to detail.
- Able to work well in a team environment.
- Able to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift 50 – 100 pounds.
- Able and willing to work outdoors in various positions such as kneeling, standing, crouching.
- Able to effectively use basic tools such as shovel, ladder, and other misc. hand tools.
- Able to be productive and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work overtime hours as needed.
