Job Summary:
The Landscape Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the upkeep and beautification of lawns, gardens, and other landscaped areas. This includes but is not limited to mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, and fertilizing. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Responsibilities:
- Lawn Care: Mowing lawns using various types of mowers, trimming edges, edging along walkways and flowerbeds, and removing debris.
- Plant Care: Planting flowers, shrubs, and trees, weeding flowerbeds, pruning bushes and hedges, fertilizing plants, and monitoring for pests and diseases.
- Seasonal Tasks: Performing seasonal tasks such as leaf removal and preparing landscapes for winter or summer.
- Clean Up: Maintaining clean and organized work areas, including loading and unloading equipment and debris.
- Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on landscaping equipment, such as changing blades, lubricating equipment, and ensuring equipment is in good working order.
- Customer Service: Interacting with clients in a professional and courteous manner, addressing their questions and concerns, and providing excellent customer service.
- Safety: Adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and operating equipment safely.
- Other Duties: Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping or a related field is preferred, but not required for entry-level positions. Willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are essential.
- Physical Abilities: Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, stooping, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate various types of landscaping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hedge trimmers. Experience with larger equipment (e.g., zero-turn and stander mowers) is a plus.
- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of plant care, including identification of common plants and weeds, proper pruning techniques, and fertilization methods.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
- Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented and take pride in their work.
- Reliability: Must be reliable and punctual.
- Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.
Wages & Benefits:
- $17 to $19 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
- Full-time position (March 15th – November 15th) with seasonal overtime
- 1 week paid vacation to start, 2 weeks after 2 years .
- 6 paid holidays.
- 8 to 13 week unpaid layoff in December/January/February/March.
