What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overnight Childcare Mental Health Worker (3rd Shift) position at HOFFMAN HOMES for Youth?
Hoffman Homes is a community of employees gathered on one campus to help children understand and manage their mental health diagnosis. We are looking for caring individuals to supervise the youth while they sleep.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Education, within the mental health field and/or experience working with children, is desired but not required.
- Strong desire to help an at-risk group of children.
- Requires the ability to stay active, make good decisions within a busy environment and maintain a calm demeanor while working with an emotional child.
- Requires strong ethics and accountability.
- Must be able to complete clear and legible documentation.
Duties
- Full-Time 3rd Shift employees start at $18 but receive $1.50 shift differential between the hours of 10:30 PM and 6:30 AM.
- Part-Time 3rd Shift MHWs start at $16/hr. but receive $1.50 shift differential between the hours of 10:30 PM and 6:30 AM.
- Full-time MHWs are scheduled 4 days in a row and may be scheduled for some hours additional hours as needed.
- 2 Days have a schedule of 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. The other 2 Days have a schedule of 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM
- The Mental Health Worker (MHW) is a direct-care / counselor position to children. This position primarily supervises and checks in on youth during their sleeping hours.
- On days where your shift starts at 6:30 PM, this position assists with routines and has more interaction with the youth before bedtime.
Hoffman Homes for Youth is a private, non-profit, psychiatric residential treatment facility for emotionally and behaviorally troubled children located just outside Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The principles of trauma-informed care are applied. Psychiatrists, therapists, and direct-care staff (Mental Health Workers & Mental Health Aides) provide comprehensive psychiatric care and behavioral health treatment to children and their families. Creative therapies (Pet, Music, Horsemanship, and Art) are utilized as alternative methods of building healthy emotional connections. An on-site school, The Hoffman Academy, allows for an attentive educational program combined with a therapeutic component.'
