Primary Purpose of the Role The Process / Quality Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and product quality.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, identifying and building robust processes around equipment run-ability as well as driving initiatives to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction.
This individual will also manage small - medium new equipment and product launches including trials and vendor relationships. Essential Job Duties Process Improvement & Optimization :
- During new equipment and product launches, analyze and identify opportunities to improve production processes, reducing waste, enhancing efficiency, and lowering costs.
- Use methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to streamline operations.
- Develop and implement process control plans, procedures, and facilitate new equipment & product launches within manufacturing sites. Quality Assurance & Control :
- Assist in development of quality control processes, including incoming material inspection, in-process inspection, and final product testing.
- Perform root cause analysis of defects and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Design equipment & products to meet Hoffmaster customer & regulatory requirements. Collaboration & Reporting :
- Work closely with production, design, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve product / process design.
- On new product and equipment launches, develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, process efficiency, and yield.
- Prepare detailed reports on launch trials, quality metrics, and improvement activities for management review during new equipment and product launches Training & Support :
- Facilitate training and guidance to production teams on quality standards, process improvements, and best practices for new product & equipment launches.
- Ensure that quality standards are integrated into all stages of product development and manufacturing. Supplier and Vendor Collaboration :
- Collaborate with external suppliers and vendors to source materials and components. Travel :
- As part of this role, travel to manufacturing facilities, supplier locations, industry events / conferences (up to 20%) to oversee product development and ensure the timely execution of initiatives. Required Skills / Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering, quality engineering, or manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), process improvement techniques (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
- Proficiency with quality tools such as PFMEA and root cause analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelors degree in engineering
