Position Title Adjunct Faculty, Publishing Studies Position Number 999927 Position Category School / Division Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Humanties Department Full-Time or Part-Time Part-Time Description Hofstra University’s English Department is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach a course in book design and production in the department’s Publishing Studies program in fall 2025.
Primary teaching responsibilities will include developing and teaching the class Book Design and Production for undergraduates and post-bac candidates. Classes are held on campus in Hempstead, NY.
The Publishing Studies program is a concentration within the Hofstra English major. The vibrant, liberal arts-based concentration focuses on the history and future of publishing through a mix of research, internships, and project-based learning. The curriculum includes foundation courses on the history and process of book publishing, as well as specialized courses in editing, design, production, marketing, publicity, and a capstone in which students create and edit a digital and print version of Windmill : The Hofstra Journal of Literature & Art. Qualifications
- A BA, MA, or MFA in a field related to English or Design is required.
- The candidate should have significant professional experience in trade publishing for adults and / or children, young adults, or academic publishing.
- Familiarity specifically with InDesign, Photoshop, and additional online design platforms is required.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in a professional and / or educational environment.
