Position Title Assistant Athletic Trainer Position Number 898010 Position Category Administration School / Division Training Room (division) Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine, the Assistant AthleticTrainer is responsible for assisting with the prevention, recognition, evaluation, rehabilitation and recovery from injuries and illnesses to student-athletes. Hofstra University sponsors 21 competitive sports and approximately 350 student-athletes. All staff members are responsible for complying with the policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, the NCAA and the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to athletic administration.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Helps student-athletes prevent, recognize, evaluate, rehabilitate and recover from injuries and illnesses.
- Maintains illness and treatment records, insurance correspondence, and communication with team physicians and the University Wellness Center.
- Supervises athletic training students enrolled in the accredited athletic training education curriculum.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
