Position Title Assistant Teacher (4 positions available) Position Number 898037, 899540, 898538. 899658 Position Category Administration School / Division School of Education Department HCLAS, School of Education - Child Care Institute Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description Reporting to the Director of the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute, the Assistant Teacher s upports the lead teacher in carrying out classroom responsibilities, as well as assisting with the execution of planned activities and overall classroom management.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Provides a warm, nurturing classroom environment for children.
- Provides a welcoming environment for parents and families.
- Follows the procedure and schedule set forth by the staff in the classroom.
- Assists in the execution of planned activities and overall classroom management.
- Carries out the mission set forth by the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute and Hofstra University.
- Fulfills the role of the classroom teacher in his / her absence.
- Demonstrates understanding and respect for children, their developmental needs, and interests, respect for a child’s family and culture.
- Displays commitment of continued professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
