Description
Reporting to the Associate Dean/Executive Director, the program coordinator supports three grant-funded initiatives from the New York State Education Department: the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), the Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP), and the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP). The program coordinator provides guidance to both pre-collegiate and collegiate students. This position involves mentoring, tutoring, and facilitating fall, spring, and summer academic classes. Additional responsibilities include planning workshops and colloquiums, as well as managing databases. Each year, arrangements are made for student conferences, field trips, and college tours. The position includes Saturday hours, travel to local school districts, and occasional overnight obligations for conferences and tours. This position is contingent upon grant funding.

- Meets with both pre-collegiate and collegiate students, on-campus or online, from an assigned caseload covering topics such as academic goal-setting, action plans, and follow-ups.
- Schedules meetings with students and parents when necessary.
- Meets with students to discuss academic progress, tutoring, and program adjustments with students while also maintaining records for reports.
- This position requires availability for drop-in meetings with parents and students, facilitating group sessions, and addressing various topics.
- For pre-collegiate participants, collaborates with partner school counselors on student programming and progress.
- Coordinates student programming and activities, including registration, enrollment, and orientation.
- Collaborates with staff to plan and facilitate the annual academic showcase and recognition ceremony.
- Works with partner school coordinators to plan student activities and collect yearly data on programming services.
- Oversees the planning and coordination of educational laboratory visits.
- Helps coordinate student programming and activities including classroom assignments, registration, attendance, etc.
- Assists with collecting data for midyear and final reports.
- Collects and records student data for the New York State Education Department reports, including maintaining reports on all CSTEP, LPP, and STEP program participants.
- Coordinates with staff members to manage student enrollment and participation.
- Plans colloquiums and preparatory activities for the New York State exam, which include arranging speakers, reserving rooms, and organizing food.
- Collaborates directly with teachers to organize activities, focusing on curriculum development equipment and materials.
- Assists in managing and guiding recognition and celebratory activities for pre-collegiate and collegiate student groups.
- Supervises and aides in coordinating events, including invitations, student certificates, teacher evaluations, and more.
- Assist in coordinating all activities related to conference preparation for students (both pre-collegiate and collegiate), including registration, research presentations, hotel accommodations, travel arrangements, pre-trip meetings, and more.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least one year of successful administrative experience in educational or social programs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and demonstrated written communication skills.

Salary/Salary Range
$64,500

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
