The Appellate Specialist will provide paralegal support to our busy Supreme Court and Appellate practice area. They will work closely with small teams of lawyers in high-stakes litigation. This position has a billable requirement of 1,650 hours per year and will be located in the Washington, D.C. office.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Cite check, Bluebook, proofread, and prepare tables for briefs, motions, and other filings drafted by Appellate practice area lawyers.
- Prepare routine or procedural motions and documents.
- Prepare and assemble PDFs of both public and confidential appellate documents, including voluminous joint appendices.
- Electronically file briefs, motions, appendices, and other documents in courts via PACER / ACMS, the U.S. Supreme Court filing system, and various state docket programs and oversee preparation and service of necessary printed copies.
- Use PACER, PacerPro, and various state online court docket programs to retrieve case docket and document information.
- Assist lawyers with oral argument preparations, including creating case information binders.
- Assist lawyers in joining the bars of various federal courts and obtaining pro hac vice status in various state courts.
- Coordinate with Clerk’s Offices as requested by Appellate lawyers.

HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9 : 00 a.m. to 6 : 00 p.m. Must have flexibility to work overtime as needed.
The annualized salary range for this position is $121,550 to $159,800 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
