Title:           50% School Testing Coordinator-50% Classroom Teacher

Reports to: Principal

Terms of Employment: 11 months

Salary Range: NC State Salary Scale

FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in education and a Continuing Professional License (CPL)
  • Knowledge of North Carolina assessment laws and procedures.
  • Knowledge of North Carolina assessment accommodations. 

 

Supervises:  

  • None  

 



Testing Coordinator Essential Job Functions:  

  • Responsible for the organization, implementation, verification, collection and distribution of materials for all assessments.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality. 
  • Adheres to state and local testing procedures and deadlines.
  • Maintains databases and files as assigned by the Principal and District Testing

Coordinator. 

  • Works with the Principal and District Testing staff to ensure that 95% participation requirements are met.
  • Assists in the correction of coding errors as needed. 

 

Instruction/Program Delivery 

  •  Responsible for the organization and training of all assessments. 

 

Professional Knowledge 

  • Assists with investigating and preparing reports for reported test irregularities.
  • Serves as a resource person to campus principals and teachers to meet the instructional needs of students.
  • Interprets testing procedures and regulations for campus personnel. 
  • Attends all assessment training as directed by the Principal and District Testing Coordinator.

 

Assessment 

  • Disaggregates, analyzes, disseminates and prepares reports for testing data upon 

request. 

  • Responsible for campus testing documentation compliance. 
  • Responsible for the integrity and security of all assessments. 
  • Implements all policies and procedures for the national, statewide, and local assessments as directed by the Test Coordinator’s Manual, the Test Administration Manual and Hoke County Schools testing policies.
  • Adheres to all state policies regarding the reporting of security breaches and/or infractions. 
  • Assures the security of all testing documents. 
  • Adheres to all established timelines. 
  • Assures the accurate completion of all testing documents.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills; interprets policies and procedures as needed per testing program(s). 
  • Demonstrates organizational skills which utilize problem-solving and adaptability for creating and maintaining a positive, orderly, purposeful learning/working environment for instructional purposes. 
  • Demonstrates ability to organize effective test plans and lead staff in test training responsibilities.
  • Assures that students with disabilities take the correct tests and that students receive appropriate testing accommodations. 
  • Assures that appropriate testing environments are maintained. 
  • Trains building level staff in test security and administration; assures implementation of security and administration procedures. 
  • Maintains school level records and documents for all statewide testing. 
  • Communicates and coordinates with school administration related to all STC functions.   
  • Works with the data managers and school counselors as enrollment changes to maintain an accurate and complete file of test histories and counts of students in each testing program. 
  • Coordinates with school counselors, Director of Testing & Accountability, and school administrator(s) for the administration of ACT assessments.
  • Coordinates with school counselors, Director of Testing & Accountability, Director of CTE, and school administrator(s) for the administration of ACT WorkKeys assessments.
  • Coordinates with the AIG Director, school counselors, and school administrator(s) for the administration of AP Tests.
  • Assists with school wide assessments, to include but not limited to NC Check-Ins, all state assessments,  and benchmarks, as assigned by the district and/or school administration. 
  • Provides information to the Principal as needed to complete state reports. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

 

Teacher Essential Job Functions:

The teacher is required to follow all Board and State Policies and procedures and to comply with the instructions and/or directives from his/her supervisor(s). Responsibilities include the following:

  • Cooperates, as requested, in the development of annual objectives for the school and plans an instructional program which incorporates these objectives.  
  • Incorporates learner objectives compatible with the subject, grade level, established curriculum, and student needs.  
  • Assesses his/her instructional program to determine its effectiveness.  
  • Maintains an effective program by establishing and maintaining an adequate knowledge of subject areas and child growth and development.  
  • Attends and participates in staff development, professional learning communities, and other relevant training.  
  • Stays abreast of and implements current evidence based research practices for increasing student achievement. 
  • Ensures that the instruction, materials and procedures are appropriate for the subject being taught and for the needs of the students.  
  • Ensures the application and practice are used by students to acquire or reinforce a concept or skill.
  • Encourages students, parents and others to become actively involved in daily instructional activities.
  • Collaborates with parents, employees, and community to create a supportive approach to reaching students.
  • Assesses individual student abilities to devise techniques that will accommodate student differences in rates of learning, styles of learning, and ability levels. These techniques may involve long term or short term grouping or the differentiating of materials and equipment.  
  • Monitors individual student achievement on a continuous basis, employs a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs, and provides remediation as required. 
  • Implements professional classroom management techniques to maintain a suitable instructional environment.  
  • Makes use of community resources, student talent, volunteers, and other school personnel to enhance the instructional program. 
  • Demonstrates respect for the dignity and worth of all students, values cultural differences, and maintains communication with parents.  
  • Accepts responsibility for non-instructional duties as may be assigned by the principal, superintendent, school board, or other administrative personnel.  
  • Conducts himself in such a manner as to promote a safe, secure, and orderly environment.  Fosters a climate of respect at the school, and thus, by example, demonstrates that appropriate personal conduct should be a priority for all students and all employees.  
  • Report acts of violence to the principal. 

 

The teacher's primary functions are:

  • To direct the growth and development of pupils;
  • To assume definite responsibilities toward the safe, efficient operation, and the improvement of the total program of the school; and
  • To teach the required curriculum, as adopted by the Board.  
  • Additional responsibilities such as the following may be assigned:
    • Bus duty;
    • Cafeteria supervision;
    • Playground duty;
    • Supervision of extra-curricular activities; except that no such assignments may be made to initially licensed teachers or to teachers with more than twenty-seven (27) years of experience unless they request such assignment in writing, or unless the Board makes a finding that there is a compelling reason to suspend this policy for an individual school;
    • Attend professional development or other professional training;
    • Service on committees; and
    • All other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent, principal, or other supervisor(s). 



Physical and Cognitive Requirements

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. 

 

Must be able to: 

  • Operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, overhead projectors, and data projectors. 
  • Operate a motor vehicle.
