Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry, particularly in Japanese cuisine, and will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. The Sushi Chef will play a crucial role in meal preparation, ensuring food safety and hygiene practices are followed while providing exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, using fresh ingredients and traditional techniques.
- Ensure all food handling and safety regulations are strictly adhered to during meal preparation and service.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain an efficient workflow and timely service during peak hours.
- Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items and seasonal specials based on customer preferences and ingredient availability.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi-related supplies and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment.
- Provide training and support to kitchen staff regarding sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the restaurant or catering industry.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling.
- Familiarity with various types of fish, seafood, and other ingredients used in sushi preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in presentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A passion for culinary arts with a willingness to learn new techniques and recipes related to Japanese cuisine.
