Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Collection Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounts receivable, negotiating payment plans, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. This role requires strong communication skills, a solid understanding of financial processes, and the ability to work effectively with patients to resolve payment issues.
Duties
- Manage and maintain accounts receivable, ensuring accurate records of all transactions.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with clients while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Utilize financial software and accounting software to track payments and account status.
- Conduct account reconciliation to ensure all debits and credits are accurately recorded.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding outstanding debts, utilizing telemarketing techniques as necessary.
- Apply knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 codes when dealing with healthcare-related accounts.
- Provide excellent customer service while addressing client inquiries and disputes related to their accounts.
- Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for improving collection rates.
Experience
- Proven experience in collections or accounts receivable is preferred.
- Familiarity with financial software and accounting software is essential for tracking payments and managing accounts.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 codes is a plus, especially for those working in healthcare collections.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Experience in account reconciliation, debits, and credits is highly desirable.
