QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Massachusetts Teacher License
2. A Master’s Degree with courses in the organization and administration of athletic and physical education programs.
3. Past successful experience as a head coach.
REPORTS TO:Principal of the Holbrook Middle High School
SUPERVISES:Coaches
JOB GOAL:
1.To develop a high degree of proficiency and professional responsibility in all interscholastic coaches.
2.To provide overall leadership and coordination among the various sports to facilitate programs that provide students worthwhile learning experiences.
3.To provide all students an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, and the principles of fair play.
4.To develop and execute a program of current needs assessment
5.To identify outstanding deficiencies or weaknesses in current programs in athletics
6.To develop a plan to overcome, as rapidly as possible, the identified deficiencies or weaknesses.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athletic Director shall perform all duties assigned by the Principal of the Holbrook Middle-High School or his/her designee. He/she shall:
1.Organize and administer the overall program of athletics for the Holbrook Public Schools.
2.Provide leadership in the selection, assignment and evaluation of athletic coaches.
3.Foster good school-community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
4.Work closely with the Holbrook Parents Booster Club.
5.Assume responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events.
6.Hire officials and policemen as required, be present at all required home games, and assume general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games.
7.Arrange transportation for athletic contest participants.
8.Develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activity.
9.Prepare and administer the athletic program budget.
10.Requisition, in cooperation with appropriate staff member, supplies, uniforms, and equipment for athletic programs.
11.Supervise the cleaning, storage, and care of all athletic equipment.
12.Keep records of the results of all senior high school athletic contests, and maintain a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of award, including athletic scholarships.
13.Plan and supervise an annual recognition program, or seasonal recognition program, for school athletes.
14.Communicate such programs to the administration, the staff, and the public at large.
15.Recommend as necessary specific additions, changes, and alternatives to athletic fields, gymnasium, and instructional areas.
16.Develop and supervise a system of centralization of athletic supplies and equipment, including methods of purchasing, repair, storage and maintenance.
17.Assists in interviewing all coaches for the district.
18. Establish and adhere to a regular schedule of inspection of all athletic facilities and installations to maintain and improve their safety.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
According to the Teachers’ Contract:
1. Ten-month school year.
2. Athletic Director will carry a teaching load as designated in the Agreement between the Holbrook School Committee and the Holbrook Education Association.
3. Preparation period and/or non-supervisory period may be used to carry out duties.
Salary per teacher’s contract.
