Qualifications: 1.Bachelors degree or higher2.Massachusetts licensure as an Elementary Teacher, Grades 1-6 (Preferred Early Childhood experience)3.Massachusetts licensure in Reading4.Evidence of a successful student teaching experience and a minimum of five years successful teaching 5.Evidence of successful experience involving parents in the educational process6.Evidence of the ability to work successfully with a broad variety of professionals7.Evidence of the knowledge of the guiding principles and learning standards of the Massachusetts Common Core State StandardsReports to: PrincipalJob Goal: The elementary teacher will be responsible for communicating knowledge and skills to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner. He or she will use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to present material to students and engage them in learning. The teacher will work as a team member, sharing common planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities. The elementary teacher will administer different forms of student assessments and plan their instruction for students based on the data from the assessments.
The teacher will work to integrate technology into teaching and professional activities. The teacher will also establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.Performance Responsibilities: 1.Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the District as well as other appropriate learning activities.2.Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.3.Develops standards-based lesson plans and instructional materials in accordance with Common Core Frameworks.4.Provides differentiated instruction to meet the needs of an academically diverse student population.5.Analyzes student assessment data to determine student needs and plan standards-based lessons.6.Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.7.Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.8.Evaluates pupils academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.9.Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils progress and interpret the school program.10.Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.11.Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.12.Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities13.Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.14.Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.15.Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.16.Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.17.Participates in curriculum development program as required.Evaluated by: Principal
