Qualifications: I.Bachelor's Degree required.II.Massachusetts License and Experience preferred.III.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.Reports to: Regular Education Teacher(s)/SPED Teacher(s)Job Goal: To aid in the provision of a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment inwhich all students, both regular and special education, can take full advantage of the instructionalprogram and available resource materials.Performance Responsibilities: 1. Under the general supervision of a teacher, carries out the instructional activities called for in the assigned students Individual Educational Plans and in the classroom lesson plans.2. Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by teacher.3. Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about individual students.4.
Assists the teacher in developing strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based upon an understanding of individual student needs, abilities, and interests.5. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.6. Performs clerical duties and routine classroom procedures.7. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.8.
Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines.9. Monitors and records students progress on daily and periodic bases, using assigned data-based recording system.10. Assists teacher with classroom activities.11.
