The Position

The Advancement Events and Engagement Manager or Assistant Director will lead the planning and execution for events within the Advancement Office, including partnering with the Director of Parent and Alumni Engagement on Reunion Weekend and assisting the Director of the Holderness Fund with the annual Day of Giving on campus and related off-campus events. Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement for Engagement and Operations, this role is instrumental in fostering meaningful connections between Holderness and its alumni, parents, and students through strategic event coordination and engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Engagement and Operations and the Director of Parent and Alumni Engagement to establish event strategies, goals, and budgets.
  • Develop, plan, and execute a comprehensive annual calendar of engagement, stewardship, and fundraising events for the Advancement Office, both on and off campus.
  • Serve as the liaison for regional alumni and parent-hosted events, providing guidance and support.
  • Manage all event logistics, including invitations, registrations, calendar posts, and Alumni Web content, collaborating with the Communications Team as needed.
  • Partner with key Advancement staff to help coordinate signature events, including Reunion Weekend, the annual Day of Giving, and campaign-related events.
  • Organize and execute the Alumni Induction Ceremony during Commencement Weekend, and manage the process for Advancement-related Commencement awards.
  • Oversee Advancement-related content for the school magazine, Holderness School Today, including class notes, milestone listings, and donor/alumni/parent profiles.
  • Manage alumni engagement through the life event care package program.
  • Assist with alumni class management and engagement as needed.
  • Represent the Advancement Office at school-wide events as needed, including student orientation and Commencement.
  • Coordinate and track swag inventory for events and office needs, managing orders as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Strong event planning and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with a keen understanding of donor and alumni engagement.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in event management tools, CRM systems, and digital communication platforms.
  • A passion for education, community engagement, and institutional advancement.
