Scope:
Responsible to drive hotel revenues through effective targeting, soliciting, qualifying, and closing of business within assigned market segments. Regularly sell hotel rooms, meeting rooms and food & beverage through direct client contacts. All to be completed in accordance with the overall hotels’ strategic plans.

Primary Responsibilities:
Ø Develops short-term tactics and long – range strategic plans and programs.
Ø Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team goals and maximize profitability.
Ø Develops and maintains relationships with key clients in order to produce individual corporate travel/group and/ or convention business.
Ø Negotiates guest room rates, meeting room rental, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines.
Ø Has the ability to prepare proposal and contracts.
Ø Maintains updated files: prepares weekly sales reports to record sales activities.
Ø Conduct site inspections of the property and entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
Ø Practices proper accounting procedures.
Ø Participates in pre- conference meeting with clients and departments heads as necessary.
Ø Accurately forecast all booking by securing group history and communicates all cancellations.
Ø Assists the Director of Sales with the implementation and achievement of the Sales and Marketing plan.
Ø Attends and represents company at trade shows, receptions, or market appropriate meetings.
Ø Responds quickly to guest inquiries in a friendly and efficient manner.
Ø Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Ø Understands and abides by company policies and procedures; can effectively communicate them to subordinates.
Ø Maintains competency in technology related tools (i.e. Opera Sales and Catering, email and voicemail systems, etc)
Ø Participates in meetings that are not limited to the daily Check in and weekly Sales meetings
Ø Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
Education/ Experience:
Post-secondary education in Hotel Management or Business Administration with minimum of two years related Hotel sales experience preferred.
IHG Hotel Sales experience Preferred
Full Service Hotel Sales Experience Preferred
Skills:
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
Proven sales and negotiation skills
Planning and organization skills with attention to detail
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
Knowledge Opera Sales & Catering experience preferred
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle daily required
Working Conditions:
Will be required to work in fast paced, stressful environment
Will be required to work some evening, weekends, and holidays

A majority of time is spent conducting outside sales; therefore, a significant amount of time is spent communicating and interacting with various people inside and outside of the hotel. This person will be listening and speaking to guests and staff, making quick decisions, and using problem-solving skills.
Reading and writing abilities are often used when communicating with the hotel outlets and outside contacts when planning services, as well as to document any sales related activity.
A portion of time is spent moving about the property while conducting tours or meeting with other hotel departments.
Some travel is necessary to meet potential clients and to attend conventions and trade shows.
Mathematical skills, including basic math, problem solving, reasoning, negotiating, profit/loss concepts, variances and percentages are often used.
This person will occasionally assist in breaking down or setting up of banquet space, or assist in food service, requiring lifting of up to 50 pounds.
