The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Medina is looking for a full time Front Desk Staff.
Open availability for evenings (3pm-11pm), weekends, & holidays.
Pay $15-$16 depending on experience.
Summary:
Handles a combination of duties, including but not limited to, check-in and check-out of guests, in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides professional and courteous guest service at all times.
- Wears proper uniform and name tag at all times.
- Inputs and accesses data in the computers.
- Answers telephone calls courteously and efficiently within three rings, and uses required greeting.
- Registers and assigns rooms to guests.
- Transmits and receives messages using equipment such as telephone, facsimile machine, and switchboard.
- Communicates telephone messages to guests within one minute of receiving the call.
- Makes a note of messages for guests who have not checked in yet and attaches to registration card.
- Notifies guests of incoming faxes within five minutes of receipt.
- Places courtesy calls to newly rented rooms to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
- Responds to guest requests within 10 minutes of receiving the request.
- Promotes positive relations with all individuals who approach the front desk and with those who call the hotel.
- Understands guest inquiries and provides responses.
- Focuses on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous.
- Thinks clearly and quickly, and makes concise decisions.
- Prioritizes, organizes, and follows up while focusing attention on details.
- Multitasks as necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality of all guest and hotel information.
- Ensures security of guestroom access and never gives out a guest’s room number, regardless of the circumstances.
- Works well under pressure during busy arrival and departure times.
- Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services, registration of guests, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
- Makes, confirms, cancels, and changes guest reservations and meeting room rentals.
- Assists guests by making airport transportation or rental car arrangements.
- Keeps records of room availability and maintains a balanced inventory at all times.
- Performs bucket checks twice per shift.
- Ensures the safe keeping of all keys at the front desk.
- Handles accounting of money, receipts, guest accounts, and credit through operation of the front desk computer system, and through completion of reports required to ensure that company funds are secure.
- Posts charges such as room, food, laundry, and telephone to guest folios.
- Issues safe deposit boxes to guests and ensures security of keys.
- Computes bills, collects payments, and makes changes for guests.
- Maintains wake-up call service and repeats time and room number to guest to ensure accuracy.
- Blocks rooms in the computer and follows through on designated requirements.
- Assists with group room blocks and quotes rates as required.
- Promotes any current hotel and franchise marketing programs.
- Uses suggested selling skills and company sales programs to maximize revenue and occupancy levels.
- Provides guestroom tours as needed.
- Documents activities in log book as they occur during shift in order to create a record to assist with any future guest complaints or situations.
- Maintains neat and clean work space and storage areas, and ensures proper stocking.
- Completes daily shift responsibility checklist.
- Performs all duties as required and other additional tasks as assigned by management.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
