Security Officers will support the day-to-day operations as they relate to physical security at the hotel(s) and employee housing. Security Officers must be extremely organized and thorough in their approach to ensure staff and guest safety, and able to independently make decisions as to the best possible projected outcome in stressful
situations. Security Officers are expected to be the example of our core values in action at all times. Challenges may include intoxicated guests/employees, emergency medical situations, safety escorts, or general security round completion.
Responsibilities
- Performs complete daily rounds of hotel and employee housing properties on foot and by vehicle to ensure assets, guests, and employees are secure.
- Responds to and document urgent and emergent medical and non-medical incidents on the property.
- Performs a variety of clerical and entry-level computer-based tasks, such as maintaining security logs, answering phone calls, and responding to emails.
- Act as the point person when another security staff is not available, including assisting guest service staff with tasks or shuttling guests if necessary.
- Upholds behavioral and professional standards with employees by leading by example.
- Responsible for reporting safety and behavioral issues to management.
- Communicate all safety and potential safety issues and intervene in observed safety risks when possible.
- Intervene in observed safety risks when possible and communicate the intervention to management for follow-up.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 21 years is required to operate a commercial vehicle or serve alcohol in the state of Alaska.
- Valid Driver’s License (not revoked or suspended) with fewer than three moving violations.
- Must have or be able to get current First Air/CPR/AED certification and the State of Alaska-approved alcohol server training. ETT certification may be required in remote locations.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs./23kg.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.

- Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
- Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
