The Purchasing Specialist will be ordering construction materials online daily in a high paced job that requires fast computer skills, excellent search strategies, detail oriented with great focus on deadlines. We are a small construction office with a great office environment in Concord. We work hard but have fun too. This position is responsible for coordinating with our field teams and office staff to purchase construction materials via online order placements for multiple ongoing projects. Additionally, the Purchasing Specialist oversees the warehouse and scheduling the daily deliveries and jobsite debris collection. This position requires an excellent multi-tasker with exceptional organizational and document tracking skills for a fast-paced construction company serving San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. Bilingual: Fluent in both English and Spanish is REQUIRED. Excellent computer typing skills are a must.
Responsibilities for the Purchasing Specialist
- Order materials online, process purchase orders, work orders, packing slips
- Track all expenses on spreadsheet and Builder-trend
- Schedule the drivers for pick-ups, deliveries and hauling debris
- Coordinate with Superintendents and team to schedule deliveries
- Attend weekly project meetings, provide weekly status of job orders/delays
- Make certain returns are processed timely to capture refunds and credits
- Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods, vendor pricing and product availability (backorders)
- Track material expenses for change orders and report cost to project coordinator
- Oversee warehouse inventory, stocking material, restocking excess material, resourcing inventory to maximize material cost savings
Qualifications for Purchasing Specialist
- Fluent in both English and Spanish speaking is required
- Experience working in purchasing (warehouse, inventory, construction) preferred
- Working knowledge of the construction industry and familiarity with building material
- Excellent computer skills (mac computers, google, excel, word)
- Strong understanding of purchasing, negotiation techniques and conflict resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational and documentation skills
Compensation
- Pay Range = $50k - $54k annual wage DOE
- 1 week vacation
- 401K Plan
