The Head Chef is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, including menu creation, food quality, staff management, and kitchen safety. They lead the culinary team, maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation, and ensure a memorable dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and update menus, ensuring seasonal variety, cost efficiency, and high quality standards.
- Oversee food preparation, portioning, and presentation to maintain consistency and visual appeal.
- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff fostering a positive work environment and encouraging professional growth.
- Ensuring all dishes are prepared according to recipes and standards, maintaining consistency in flavor and presentation.
- Monitor inventory, control food costs, minimize waste, and maintain budgetary guidelines.
- Enforce hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards in compliance with health regulations.
- Work closely with management and front of the house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
- Address any issues related to kitchen operations, staff, or customer complaints promptly and effectively.
- Inspire the culinary team, maintain high morale, and cultivate a creative and productive kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a retirement community setting.
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, recipes, and food safety standards.
- Strong leadership communication and decision-making skills.
- Serve safe certification preferred.
