BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / TRAINING :
- Successful completion of the New Jersey State-approved Nursing Assistant program
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current CNA license

Provide personal hygiene including bathing, oral care, skin and nail care and hand washingComplete resident grooming including hair care, shaving, dressing and weighingAssist with resident toileting, bowel and bladder training and perineal careBed makingPerform and assist with resident mobility, transferring, ambulation, positioning and range of motionUse appropriate and safe body technique when lifting and / or transferring residents or suppliesUse mechanical equipment and assistive devices for patient handling tasks as identified, according to the individual resident Care Plan and the Safe Patient Handling Act.Use aseptic techniques for purpose of infection control; this includes good hand washing techniques and infection control policiesAdhere to facility infection control practices and standardsCarry out Universal Precaution procedures and isolation techniquesAssist in orienting residents to household environment and routines upon admission and throughout stay as neededElectronically document accurately all care given, including dietary intake and output, temperature, weight, pulse and respirations, using approved abbreviations and descriptive termsMaintain confidentiality of all resident care information and assure resident rights and privacy is protected at all timesReport to nurse for written and verbal assignments which include daily use of care plans for assigned residents before initiating careParticipate in the planning of resident care through shift reports and resident care staffing meetings when assignedInform verbally and / or submit in writing any observations and changes in a resident for the Licensed Nurse to evaluateServe residents their meals, motivating and assisting them with intake of nourishment and fluidsObserve resident’s dietary intake and report any changes to the Charge NurseAnswer all call signals and requests of resident immediatelyEncourage / assist residents in keeping their rooms in an orderly fashionMaintain the nursing unit in a clean and orderly mannerKeep all residents’ personal belongings and equipment cleanEscort residents to appointments as neededParticipate in activity programs planned for residents as neededAttend and participate in unit nursing staff meetings and monthly professional education programsMake sure that all residents have their clothes properly labeled and all dentures, hearing aids and glasses are carefully stored and monitoredRespond to resident emergency including bleeding, falls, seizures and performance of Heimlich ManeuverAssist with post mortem care as assignedMonitor residents with Tab monitorsCreate and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest as well as a calm environment throughout the HomeOTHER DUTIES :
