Recreation Programming Internship

This individual will organize, plan, market, and facilitate sports-related leagues and community events for the City of Holland and Holland Recreation. The intern receives supervision and assignments from the Recreation Manager and the Recreation Program Coordinator; however, the intern is encouraged to develop innovative ideas to promote and grow the recreation department.
 
Start: Spring/Summer
 
End Date: Summer/Fall 
 
Schedule: Afternoons & Evenings
 
Pay Rate: $15 an hourResponsibilities: 

• Plan, organize, and supervise sports leagues for youth and adult sport-related classes, special events, and other programs.
• Establish league schedules, reserve athletic fields/courts, recruit volunteer coaches, and coordinate the formation of teams. 
• Will be involved in public relations.
• Regularly reviews and inspects facilities and equipment for any potential hazards and reports and submits repair/replacement requests to Holland Recreation. 
• Responsible for following safety rules, policies, regulations, and procedures. Completes accident reports and files them with Holland Recreation. 
• Prepare and maintain sponsorship letters and reports. 
• Aid in the implementation of Holland Recreation’s marketing plan, including but not limited to press releases, social media marketing, graphic creation, and more. 
• Maintain a positive working relationship with other employees and the public.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited college/university required, Recreation, sport management, or related field preferred.
• One year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. 

Working Conditions:

• Working outside with periodic exposure to extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, dirt, rain, noise, and chemicals.

Salary : $15
