This individual will organize, plan, market, and facilitate sports-related leagues and community events for the City of Holland and Holland Recreation. The intern receives supervision and assignments from the Recreation Manager and the Recreation Program Coordinator; however, the intern is encouraged to develop innovative ideas to promote and grow the recreation department.

- Plan, organize, and supervise sports leagues for youth and adult sport-related classes, special events, and other programs.
- Establish league schedules, reserve athletic fields/courts, recruit volunteer coaches, and coordinate the formation of teams.
- Will be involved in public relations.
- Regularly reviews and inspects facilities and equipment for any potential hazards and reports and submits repair/replacement requests to Holland Recreation.
- Responsible for following safety rules, policies, regulations, and procedures. Completes accident reports and files them with Holland Recreation.
- Prepare and maintain sponsorship letters and reports.
- Aid in the implementation of Holland Recreation’s marketing plan, including but not limited to press releases, social media marketing, graphic creation, and more.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with other employees and the public.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited college/university required, Recreation, sport management, or related field preferred.
- One year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Working outside with periodic exposure to extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, rain, noise, and chemicals.
