Supervise the overall operations at the Matt Urban Recreation Complex. Oversee the operation of the concession stand during tournaments. Inspect the facility and the surrounding area to help ensure safe and proper conduct of patrons. Maintain discipline and encourages compliance to safety rules and regulations. Assist in preparing softball fields for tournaments. Provide customer service to the public by answering questions regarding the facility.
Start: Early May 2025 (Onboarding and small assignments may begin as early as mid-April)
End Date: Mid-August 2025 (Internship can be extended if need be)
Schedule: Rotation of Weekday Nights (3pm – 10pm) and Weekends (6 weekends required)
Pay Rate: $14 an hour

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the operations of sports leagues.
- Assist in softball field maintenance operations.
- Ensure the safety and sanitary operation of the entire facility and programs.
- Communicate effectively with the public, staff, officials, and tournament directors.
- Maintains discipline and encourages compliance to safety rules and regulations. Enforces City of Holland ordinances.
- Renders first aid and summons medical assistance when necessary.
- Stock and keep an inventory of concession items. Streamline concession operation.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.
- Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from an accredited college/university required. Recreation, sport management, or related field preferred.
- Basic sports knowledge of rules and guidelines. Preferably in softball and/or baseball.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to inform the public effectively and to enforce laws, ordinances, regulations, and safety rules with firmness, tact, and impartiality.
- Ability to follow instructions and carry them out effectively.
- Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports with minimum direction or supervision.
- Knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of recreation fields.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation requirements and practices for the facility. Basic knowledge of first aid and AED methods.
- Working outside with periodic exposure to extreme hot or cold weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, rain, noise, and chemicals.
