Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Materials QC Lab Manager to oversee quality control and testing of construction materials in both lab and field settings. This role requires strong problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership skills to ensure materials meet all specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily lab and field-testing operations, ensuring proper equipment calibration and safety compliance.
- Conduct tests on construction materials (e.g., concrete, asphalt, aggregates) and analyze results to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of technicians, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Communicate test results, quality concerns, and corrective actions to project managers and clients.
- Stay current with advancements in testing methodologies and identify areas for operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s in civil engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field (preferred). Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in quality control/materials testing in construction; 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of construction materials, critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving.
- Certifications: ACI, AASHTO, or similar certifications preferred. OSHA certification a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in both lab and outdoor environments, lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable with extended periods of standing, bending, or walking.
Work Environment:
- Primarily lab-based with occasional field visits. May require flexible hours depending on project needs.
