What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Holliday Rock?
Essential Functions of the Position
- Operate heavy machinery to move materials (dirt, gravel, sand, etc.) inside mine site.
- Manage machinery to clear land, load trucks and rock plants or perform other tasks as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Monitor the condition of machinery and alert the maintenance team when needed.
- Follow safety best practice and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate with supervisors, site managers, and co-workers to coordinate efforts and meet project deadlines.
- Assist in preventative maintenance and the safe operation of the rock plants.
- Adhere to environmental and safety regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to handle strenuous tasks and long hours in various weather conditions.
- Understand how equipment works and report any equipment abnormalities to the maintenance team.
- Clear communication with supervisors and co-workers.
- Precision in operating equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with machinery or work tasks.
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery on construction sites or in related industries is required.
Physical Demands
- Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100 lbs. of weight.
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
- Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
- Ability to tolerate working at heights.
- Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment
- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Ability to use vibration tools frequently
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
- Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
