Quality Control Technician

Job Description Job Description Description : The Quality Control Technician will work under the direction of the Lab Manager performing sampling, testing, monitoring and reporting on the quality of aggregates as well as concrete products in the field and in the lab. Supervises quality assurance analysis to ensure consistent and reliable operation in a laboratory setting and in the field.Essential Functions of the Position :

• Assists operations in managing and adjusting materials at plants and in the field.
• Responsible for ready-mix, asphalt and aggregate sampling at plants and job sites.
• Reviews and interprets test results to ensure accuracy, precision, and repeatability.
• Performs calculations and determinations to validate results or specifications.
• Validates and verifies methods and identifies issues that may affect the accuracy and integrity of test results.
• Responsible for field and laboratory testing in accordance with ACI standards.
• Traveling to different locationsSkills and Knowledge :
• Effectively communicate with appropriate personnel at job sites, batch plants and testing laboratory
• Assist operations in managing and adjusting materials at plants and in the field
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
• Ability to lead discussions, make presentations and deliver technical results to a non-technical audience.
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skillsRequirements :
• High school diploma / GED
• Previous industry or related experience
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work with or without supervision.
• Must have a valid class C driver’s license.
• Ability to physically perform the essential job functions for the position including lifting heavy loads, use of hand tools, standing for long periods

Most commonly occurs when completing administrative tasks.Bending / Stooping : Rare on flat asphalt, or other hard surfaces for up to 5 seconds at a time for up to 20 minutes total in a work shift.Operating Controls with Feet : Frequently to Continuously for up to 30 minutes at a time for up to 5-6 hours total in a work shift while driving Company vehicles.Reaching above shoulder height : Rare for up to 30 seconds at a time for up to 5 minutes total in a work shift while reaching for objects on upper shelves.Reaching at waist to shoulder height : Frequently for up to 1 hour at a time for up to 5-6 hours total in a work shift while manipulating keys, writing, and driving a company vehicle with an automatic transmission.Reaching at knee to waist height : Frequently for up to 1 hour at a time for up to 5-6 hours total in a work shift while driving a company vehicle as well as opening, closing, locking, and unlocking doors.Lifting or carrying 1-10 pounds : Frequently for up to 1 hour at a time for up to 5 hours total in a work shift. Most commonly occurs with weights of 2-5 pounds while using a two-way radio, cell phone or flashlight.Pushing and pulling : Occasionally for 1 minute at a time for distances of up to 50 feet at a time with a force of up to 15 pounds and up to 10 minutes total in a work shift. Most commonly occurs while opening and closing doors and windows as well as when turning the steering wheel of the company vehicle.Operating Controls with Hands : Occasionally for up to 30 minutes at a time for up to 5-6 hours total in a work shift while driving a Company vehicle.Fingering : Occasionally for up to 1 minute at a time for up to 1 hour total in a work shift while writing and completing reports or sales proposals, as well as when dialing the phone.Talking : Continuously for up to 2 hours at a time for up to 8 hours or full work shift.Hearing : Continuously for up to 2 hours at a time for up to 8 hours or full work shift in total while listening for potential hazards, alarms, radio or telephone communication, and driving.Seeing : Continuously for up to 2 hours at a time for up to 8 hours or full work shift in total while completing logs, identifying potential hazards, driving, and observing Company property. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Environmental FactorsWork is performed in an indoor and outdoor setting on the Company property. The noise level is approximately 30-90 decibels.
