Responsibilities
- Diagnosing problems: Identifying mechanical or electrical issues
- Repairing components: wings, brakes, electrical systems, and other aircraft parts
- Inspecting aircraft: Looking for cracks, leaks, or other problems in aircraft components
- Reading manuals: Interpreting maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications
- Maintaining records: Documenting all maintenance and repair work
- Testing parts: Using gauges and other instruments to test aircraft parts
- Certifying work: Ensuring that maintenance meets standards and that aircraft are ready for operation
- Organizing tools: Accounting for all tools and equipment
- Inspect and repair aircraft according to strict safety guidelines set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or applicable regulatory body
- Oversee routine maintenance checks and perform diagnostic tests to identify hydraulic and mechanical malfunctions
- Consult maintenance blueprints, manuals, and other documents to assist with troubleshooting and repairs
- Inventory aircraft parts, supplies, and equipment, and keep detailed records of inspections, repairs, and other maintenance operations
- Complete tasks within allotted time frames and to FAA (or equivalent) and company standards
- Collaborate with other mechanics to perform repairs and ensure aircraft are operating smoothly
- Occasionally required to handle fueling of general aviation aircraft & California Department of Forestry planes & helicopters.
Essential Skills
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Minimum 1-3 years of general aviation (GA) experience, including maintenance and inspections
- Familiarity with piston-engine aircraft and general aviation operations
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations and safety procedures
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Physical strength: Being able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 70 pounds
- Manual dexterity: Being able to operate tools or make adjustments and repairs
- Visual acuity: Being able to inspect equipment and identify defects
- Hearing: Being able to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft
- Analytical mind: Having a penchant for troubleshooting
- Detail-oriented: Being detail-oriented with a passion for mechanics
About the Position
Consistent Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Compensation ranging from $25-$45/hour, depending on your years of general aviation experience.
