Role: Pediatric Gaming/Technology Coordinator
Contract: 6 months possible contract to hire
Location: Rochester, MN (onsite 5 days a week)
Pay Rate: $28.64/hour W2
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (education, technology, health care or related field) and 1 years of relevant experience OR associate's degree (education, technology, health care or related field) and 3 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Tech-savvy with a strong service-oriented mindset. Experience working with pediatric patients are highly beneficial. Prior experience in healthcare setting is a plus but not required.
- Prior experience with AR/VR is a plus but not required. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Position Description:
Overview:
The Pediatric Gaming/Technology Coordinator is a specialist dedicated to integrating
gaming and technology into pediatric patient care. This role involves implementing and
maintaining virtual reality, augmented reality, video games, and other technologies to
support the emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and physical needs of children
during their hospital stay. The coordinator works closely with both medical staff and technology support teams to ensure seamless integration of technology into patient care protocols and provides technical
support and customization to enhance the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technology Implementation and Management:
This role involves overseeing the setup/installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and updating of various technological equipment such as, but not limited to: VR headsets, gaming consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Wii), Cricut, 3D printers, photo printers, streaming devices, laptops, tablets, cameras, music therapy equipment, speakers, Go-karts (mobile gaming carts), and broadcasting equipment. Ensure all technology solutions are developmentally appropriate and safe for pediatric use. May assist with managing service agreements, warranties, and vendor relationships.
2. Training and Support:
Provide training and ongoing support to nursing staff, child life specialists, and other
relevant personnel on the use of technology. Disseminate technical knowledge, including formal training across the Child Life team and other departments as appropriate. Develop and implement training programs to ensure consistent and effective use of technology. Offer general troubleshooting and technical support as needed.
3. Planning and Coordination:
Work with HTM and IT to plan and coordinate the rollout of new technology solutions, considering factors such as funding, TPRM needs, Wi-Fi requirements, and other software/hardware needs. Develop and maintain guidelines for the developmentally appropriate use of technology. Assisting in the evaluation of business problems, recommending vendor packages, and implementing required software. Ensure the physical storage and security of technological equipment. Assist with the creation of the life cycle of system implementation and upkeep, including installation, training and technical support.
4. Patient Interaction:
Occasionally work with pediatric patients, staying in the room with them or playing games
alongside them to provide support and enhance their hospital experience. Collaborate with
child life specialists to coordinate age-appropriate technology into patient care plans. Work closely with patients and families to deploy appropriately assigned gaming and learning technologies.
