Job Summary:Holly Springs Eye and Laser is looking for a skilled and experienced Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside an ophthalmologist, assisting with patient evaluations, diagnostic testing, and minor procedures. Your expertise will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional eye care and ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians by obtaining patient medical histories, performing preliminary eye exams, and conducting standard diagnostic tests.
- Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures and medications, and administer ophthalmic drops as needed.
- Perform vision testing, intraocular pressure tests, pupil evaluations, and both automated and manual refractions with confidence.
- Conduct advanced diagnostic tests, including corneal topography, pachymetry, tonometry, visual field testing, Schirmer test, and more.
- Perform basic slit lamp examinations, ocular motility testing, and apply ocular dressings or shields.
- Assist with minor in-office procedures and surgical preparations, including setting up instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
- Transcribe exam findings into medical records as dictated by the physician.
- Maintain, calibrate, and clean ophthalmic instruments, ensuring exam rooms are properly stocked and organized.
- Handle administrative duties, including appointment scheduling, responding to patient inquiries, and coordinating prescription refills under physician direction.
- Build strong, positive relationships with patients and their families to enhance the quality of care.
- Assist with ordering medical and office supplies to maintain efficient clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician required.
- COA, COT, or COMT certification is a plus.
- Must be proficient and confident in performing accurate and precise refractions.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, diagnostic testing, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and patient-care skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), preferably Epic.
Schedule, Compensation & Benefits:
- Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Starting Wage: $18.50/hour, based on experience.
