Job Description
This is a dynamic role that requires someone who can multitask and work well under pressure. As a Racing Official, you'll be responsible for assisting with morning work in the Racing Secretaries' Office, producing the next day's program, getting entries filled, and completing the overnight work for the following race day.
You'll also act as a Placing Judge, gathering scratch information and changes, coordinating data into the information system, and proofreading all data entry. Additionally, you'll help keep patrons informed of the top four horses by posting numbers on the tote board and TV screens throughout the race.
Requirements
- One to two years of prior experience in the Horse Racing Industry.
- Must have ability to read a Condition Book.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of the Pennsylvania Rules of Racing.
- Must have outstanding guest service skills.
- Must qualify for a license with the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission and meet any credentialing requirements of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
