What are the responsibilities and job description for the DC Outbound (AutoStore) position at Hollywood Feed?
Job Summary:
The Distribution Center Outbound reports to the Warehouse Manager and is responsible for coordinating and executing the outbound processes for both Autostore and DCF orders.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Printing and organizing order numbers, wrapping completed stores, loading staged trucks, ensuring accurate labeling, and packaging, and maintaining a clean and efficient outbound area.
- When utilizing equipment, the first responsibility is to check the water in the batteries.
- It is the user’s responsibility to perform a safety check of the equipment they are about to operate prior to operation per Hollywood Feed’s Crown Training Course.
- Expected to communicate openly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors.
- Morning DCF Outbound:
- Print order numbers for Autostore and DCF orders.
- Hang magnets and printed numbers for the first two trucks.
- Begin wrapping completed stores.
- Assign personnel to load staged trucks.
- Morning Autostore Outbound:
- Gather mail and transfers.
- Check for any liquids from Store Use and handle them appropriately.
- Start combining totes.
- Match completed Autostore orders with completed DCF picks.
- Stage completed Autostore orders if DCF orders are not ready.
- Continuously check for completion of DCF orders to marry them with Autostore orders.
- Ongoing DCF Outbound tasks for the day:
- Replace magnets and printed numbers for DCF as the day progresses.
- Ensure proper labeling of dog food pallets with assigned numbers.
- Inspect DCF stacks for integrity and report any concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Record weights for all pallets and verify correct store numbers are written.
- Communicate with the inventory team regarding store destinations.
- Thoroughly wrap pallets from base to top and stage them in correct load order.
- Inspect the pallets as being wrapped for the potential damaging of product. such as: Litter Boxes, Cat Toys, Cone Collars, anything that can warp and or be bent from wrapping.
- Load trucks according to designated order, checking Load Board and creating BOL for all completed trailers.
- Clean and maintain the Outbound row.
- Ongoing Autostore Outbound tasks for the day:
- Combine totes with similar items.
- Properly pack liquids, glass, and candles to prevent breakage during transit.
- Attach store designations to all Autostore totes.
- Ensure final totes of a store order have printed Autostore pages attached.
- Clean and maintain the Autostore Outbound area.
- End of shift DCF Outbound (2 shift days):
- Hang magnets and pages for the next shift if space allows.
- Appoint an employee to communicate incomplete tasks, special notes, or relevant information to the next shift.
- End of shift (final shift of the day):
- Hang magnets for at least the first two trucks of the next day.
- Ensure all designated forklifts and loaders are placed on chargers.
- Communicate any messages for the next shift via email or notes on the whiteboard.
- Clean and prepare bout Outbound areas for the next shift.
- Expected to have open availability and weekend availability.
- Required to log into World Manger once during each shift for company policy updates and more; must complete assigned trainings; must fill out incident reports in World Manager when required.
- Must adhere to Hollywood Feed Employee Handbook, Hollywood Feed Warehouse Manual and established training standards of safety and operations.
- Must maintain ALL equipment issued to them and any equipment used by them that is owned by Hollywood Feed.
- This includes but is not limited to:
- Janams, Lucas Units, Forklifts, and Electric Runners.
- Maintenance rules and duties may include:
- Keeping equipment on the premises and placing equipment in assigned locker, charger, or area at the end of each shift.
- Reporting loss, theft, or damage to a direct supervisor.
- Daily upkeep as required for that piece of equipment including inspections.
- Do not place identifying tags, names, or words on any piece of equipment.
- Expected to operate all required equipment and machinery in a safe and effective manner to include (but not limited to) reach lifts, forklifts, and Janams.
- Expected to load trailers safely and effectively as outline by supervisors.
- Expected to safely operate pallet wrapper.
- Expected to have thorough knowledge of outgoing orders and mark assigned pallets appropriately to ensure product goes on appropriate outbound trailer.
- Responsible for the overall safety and integrity of all pallets going to store locations.
