Job Summary:
As a Truck Driver at Hollywood Feed, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of pet products between our distribution centers and retail stores. This position involves operating company vehicles, adhering to all DOT regulations, and maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency. You will be responsible for loading and unloading cargo, conducting routine vehicle inspections, and providing exceptional customer service during deliveries. A successful candidate will be a reliable, professional, and detail-oriented individual with a commitment to supporting the smooth flow of operations in our supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company trucks for the transportation of products between distribution centers, retail stores, and other locations.
- Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and maintain accurate driving records and logs.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all products are handled with care to avoid damage.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Adhere to established delivery schedules and routes while ensuring on-time and accurate deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members to report delays, issues, or other critical information.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the truck, both inside and out.
- Provide excellent customer service during all deliveries, serving as a representative of Hollywood Feed’s values and standards.
- Assist with warehouse and inventory duties as needed during downtime.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in retail or distribution environments.
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the last 3 years.
- Experience with both local and regional routes is a plus.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to operate a manual or automatic transmission vehicle.
- Experience using electronic logging devices (ELDs) preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to maintain balance on ladders or raised surface.s
- Physically able to sit and remain alert while driving for a period of up to 13 hours.
- Physically able to repeatedly lift and carry 40lbs up to 40 ft in distance multiple times a day.
- Physically able to walk, bend, kneel, push, pull, reach, squat, crouch, and twist multiple times a day.
- Physically able to hook & unhook trailers from tractor, pushing, pulling and cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear on semi-trailers.
- Physically able to load and unload trailer, either individually or with assistance of dock workers, with or without mechanical handling equipment.
- Physically able to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals.
- Physically able to enter and exit cab 8 to 10 times per day. Cab floor level is generally 36 to 66 inches above ground level, with entry and exit achieved via the assistance of various steps and handholds.
- Physically able to reach above shoulder level, waist level, and below waist level.
