Essential Functions Statement(s)

All Material Handlers

  • Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to be able to look in the direction of

travel on a continual basis.

  • Operates a lift truck all shift.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary
  • equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refers defects or repairs to

    supervisor / maintenance.

  • Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transport materials between
  • loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.

  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and
  • swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.

  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure
  • material or products for transport to designated areas.

  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Unloader

  • Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
  • Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
  • Inspects condition of all received product.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Extraordinary Service for Over a Century.

    Preloader

  • Receives and reads preload orders.
  • Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot
  • utilizing stacking guidelines.

  • Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products with the cube of the trailer according
  • to recommended loading practices and guidelines.

  • Uses scanning devise and computer as needed to perform tasks.
  • Checks printout for shortages, over-counts and incorrect model numbers.
  • Corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect models where possible.
  • Truck Loaders

  • Inspects trailers before loading products.
  • Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
  • Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the
  • trailer.

  • Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading
  • practices and guidelines.

  • Properly secures the load for travel.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    Competency Statement(s)

  • Attendance - Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time. Ability and
  • willingness to work the voluntary / mandatory overtime that is required during the busy

    season.

  • Communication - Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous
  • and professional manner with others. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written

    instruction.

  • Mathematics- Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and
  • division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to

    compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

  • Language - Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers. Ability to read and
  • interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions and procedure

    manuals. Ability to read and write simple sentences.

  • Diversity Oriented - Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender,
  • race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

  • Relationship Building - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • with customers, co-workers and management.

  • Productivity - Ability to maintain a level of production that meets or exceeds the
  • established guidelines. Ability to work independently without interruptions.

  • Paperwork - Completion - Ability to complete necessary paperwork neatly and accurately
  • and according to established guidelines. Properly count, document or scan the number of

    units as needed by the function that is being performed.

  • Paperwork - Verification - Ability to verify paperwork necessary to ensure customer is
  • receiving correct product. Ability to inspect condition of product received and product

    going out to ensure quality.

  • Organized - Ability to follow a systematic method of performing a task.
  • Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his / her actions.
  • Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Adaptability - Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Autonomy - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect Team Member
  • safety.

    SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education : High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Experience : One to two years related experience.
  • Computer Skills : Basic scanner technology.
  • Certificates & Licenses : Valid State Driver's License; Forklift Certification preferred.
